Environmental Network
Hangers Environmental Network (HEN)
Who are we?
We are an independent group who meet regularly to share concerns about the climate crisis and discuss what actions we can take as individuals and as a community. Based in the villages of Hawkley, Empshott, Greatham and Priors Dean, we liaise with other groups in the wider area to develop initiatives and organise events at local level.
Why now?
We live in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, but it is already experiencing biodiversity loss and it will suffer the effects of climate change in the future. We are not immune. At our meetings we are learning how to address this, often by inviting a specialist speaker. We share our experience in an effort to increase our energy efficiency, reduce plastic use, recycle, conserve water and manage our gardens with wildlife in mind. Our aim is to act responsibly despite the scale of the task.
Together we can make things happen.
Please come and join us. All are welcome. Bring your ideas, share your knowledge and skills. Keep an eye on the village magazine for details of monthly meetings with dates and venues. OR contact: [email protected]
Drop-in evening on home energy efficiency. Several local people will be there to share their experience of, for example, solar panels, different types of wall insulation and water heating, air source heat pumps, draught proofing and indeed having a full retrofit. An informal evening, giving the opportunity for one to one conversation.
