The Parish Council have been advised of tree safety work being carried out in Hawkley Hanger wood, from 14 September 2026 (weather permitting). The work will take approximately three weeks

During this time:

• Signs will go up before work starts
• Hangers Way bridleway moves to a temporary route. Please keep to the diversion and your dogs on a lead
• Expect chainsaw noise and occasional machines and timber lorries on Eames Lane.

The forestry team have advised that they are not clearing the hanger: only the diseased ash comes out. Yew trees stay standing and Beech/Maple trees will only be felled where necessary to facilitate machinery access to dangerous ash stems. Gaps will regenerate naturally with native broadleaves, and deadwood will be left on site for wildlife.
